I have been in a lifetime training program for this profession, and I think I have the best job in the fashion industry. This is where it all comes together. I love clothes and care passionately about all the details thereof — the quality, the materials, the design. They come alive when introduced to the right person in the right context at the right time.
My clients and the people I work with inspire me. Color moves me. I am interested in the past, present, and future of how we dress from both a technical and cultural perspective.
I founded AB/WW in the rigid “dress for success” era of the early ’80s. I believed in a different approach – in using the power of personal style and the fashion products available to create a unique image. My clients immediately felt better, were more successful, and had more fun. The rest is history!
• MY CREDENTIALS
Annie Brumbaugh, AICI CIP: Association of Image Consultants International, Certified Image Professional
I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and hold a bachelor’s degree in anthropology. I studied fashion design at St. Martin’s College of Art in London before establishing my own atelier in Marrakech, Morocco. Items from those collections appeared in Harpers & Queen andNewsweek.
In 1984, I founded AB Wardrobe Works in New York City. While I work on a confidential basis with many high-profile people here and abroad, most of my clients are successful professionals who rely on me to interpret fashion for them on an ongoing basis.
In addition, I speak on wardrobe-related topics and teach the AB/WW method of personal consulting.
I have been a member of the Association of Image Consultants International since 1986 and served on its Board 2004-6. I also belong to Fashion Group International. In my role as a stylist, I have appeared on network radio and TV and in such publications as Vogue, More, The Wall Street Journal and The Denver Post.
